Like many security cameras nowadays, the Yi Home Camera also features a motion detection sensor that alerts users via their smartphones. However, Yi Home Camera does not connect to any cloud service, instead the device uses a local storage for storing crucial security videos.
Xiaomi's Yi Home Camera features are similar to other expensive home security camera in the market today. The camera features a 720p HD video recording capabilities, motion detection, and two-way audio. It has also a 111-degree super wide-angle lens to cover the most area of your respective houses.
In addition, the camera also features night vision technology. The device is hard to detect since it uses non-invasive infrared light for its night vision.
Most home security camera devices out there, especially those with accompanying services, prefer users to subscribe to a monthly service for storing and recording their video feeds online. However, the Xiaomi's Yi Home Camera will allow users to store everything locally on a microSD card without any subscription or expense monthly.
The camera can be controlled by a free Android and iOS application which can be found on its respective stores.
Xiaomi's Yi Home Camera is now available on Amazon for the price of $59.95.
