Huawei’s Smartphone Shipments Top 100 Million, The World’s Third Biggest Mobile Brand in 2015

Chinese tech giant Huawei has revealed that its smartphone shipments topped 100 million this year, making it the world's third biggest mobile brand following Samsung and Apple.
A global 9 percent rise in the market share of The Shenzhen-based company saw its global market share rise by nine percent.

President He Gang of Huawei's mobile phone line revealed the stunning growth of the company. Huawei's sales figure in 2010 was no more than 3 million. It took five years for Huawei to reach 75 million and another year to attain 100 million. Huawei gained a firm foothold in the middle and high-end market over the past year because of innovation and marketing.
Middle and high-end smartphones cost more than 2,000 yuan ($308 US). This amounted to 33 percent of its total shipments in the third quarter in China. Seven million sets of Huawei Mate 7 were sold, making it one of the most popular smartphone models in China. While the new Mate 8 sales in its first two weeks were ten times that of Mate 7.
Huawei phones are being sold in more than 170 countries and regions. About 40 percent of the company's total revenue is expected to come from its international sales in 2016. Huawei has invested 40.8 billion yuan in research and development in 2014 with 14.2 percent of annual revenue.
According to Chief Executive Officer Ren Zhengfei, the company is setting up 16 overseas R&D institutions in several nations including Bangalore. More than 190 billion yuan has been invested in technological innovation and holds a total of 76,687 patents. He also claimed that their goal is to overtake Apple in the near future.
