The latest film in the "Star Wars" franchise opened in the U.S. on Dec. 18. Since its worldwide release, the film has been smashing records. According to reports, it collected $40 million on Dec. 25 in the U.S., breaking the Christmas record previously held by "Sherlock Holmes," which was released on Dec. 25 and collected $24.6 million.

China is considered the second-largest movie market in the world. The Chinese social media buzz reportedly suggests that "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will establish new records in China.

"Star Wars" has been mentioned more than 700,000 time since Dec. 01, according to Reuters' analysis of Weibo, the popular Chinese social media site.  Other Hollywood movies released this year in China did not have the same kind of social media buzz.

Experts are predicting that "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will collect a whopping $100 million during its opening weekend in China.

The latest "Star Wars" film has to score in China, if it is aiming to surpass the worldwide collection of "Avatar" -- $ 2.78 Billion.  Reuters analysis is that "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will smash opening weekend record in China as well, like it has done in the U.S. and U.K.

Meanwhile, Luhan, who is the official Chinese ambassador for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," features in the special promotional video released by the Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm. In the video, Luhan is seen in Jedi robes after he lands on a galaxy far away. He is joined by BB-8 and R2-D2, and he is later seen holding the lightsaber to fight Kylo Ren.

The first "Star Wars" movies were screened in China in June 2015 - four decades after the sixth film of the franchise was screened in the U.S.
