Actress Li Bingbing is already a superstar in China, but Australian filmmakers are hoping that her popularity will be a savior to their movie industry.

The 42-year old actress will be setting off to Queensland, Australia in 2016 to continue filming The Nest. This 3D film centers around a group of scientists who find a mummified Chinese emperor and unleash a swarm of man-eating spiders discovered in an ancient labyrinth.

The film will be set in China even though most of the filming is being done in Australia.

The cast also includes Hollywood Actor and former Frasier star Kelsey Grammer.

Li Bingbing is also rumored to be co-producing the $30 million movie that is currently being filmed at the Village Roadshow Studios in Mermaid beach and also at a quarry in Stapylton on Australia's Gold Coast.

The film will be the first ever Australian-Chinese co-production and the Queensland industry hopes that they get a taste of the $100 billion Chinese film and TV production pie.

The Nest co-producer Todd Fellman said that "The Chinese entertainment industry is a massive market, and this film is a significant milestone. So far, the Chinese audiences have developed a great demand for screen entertainment and it seems like it will upstage the US demand as the biggest movie market by 2017."

Li Bingbing is known to her Western audiences for her roles in Transformers: Age of Extinction and Resident Evil: Retribution.

China is currently Queensland's second-largest source of international visitors with an annual income of $833 million during the past year, and it will overtake New Zealanders as number one within five years.
