Fan Bingbing once more firmly stood her ground regarding the artistic integrity of her intimate scene with co-actor Leon Lai in the now controversial "Lady of the Dynasty." In a report by Yahoo! Singapore, the 33-year-old Chinese actress pointed at "malicious media marketing" and "irresponsible netizens" as what led to the censorship of her horse scene.

Since screenshots of her intimate horse scene spread on social media sites, Fan has openly defended and expressed her frustration over the ill-disposed comments about her and her movie. One remark about her choice of projects reportedly became the last straw and prompted the actress to candidly call out "perverts" who perpetuate malice on anything they see. She also felt reproach toward the negativity that resulted from the magnified attention on that one scene.
Days prior to the official release of the epic war-romance film, a slew of issues have surfaced, including a possible removal of the scene in question. According to an earlier statement, Fan's agency found the reported request of cinemas to cut the part as "ridiculous" and the production company promised that there would be no removal. However, this proved to have been a warning since the final version was screened in cinemas on July 30 without the "erotic horse straddling."
Tencent Entertainment soon revealed that a deliberation resulted in the decision to edit parts of the intimate scene. The production company also expressed hopes that the part, or the lack of it, would not eclipse the overall quality of the movie.
Director Shi Qing also gave his share of reaction to the online controversy a day after the film's official release in China. Allegedly, the criticisms made the filmmaker "regret" some of his calls on the project.
"The leaked screenshots of the sex scene that went viral on the Internet made me realize that I had some regrets with regards to some of the technicalities of the scene. So I cut it to make the movie more ideal," the director told People.cn.
Fan's fellow actor Wu Chun also defended Lady of the Dynasty and the director's artistic perspective. According to him, while he has not scene the movie as a whole, he believes that the scene is "challenging" but "beautifully shot."
