However, according to a few rumors, it might be an announcement regarding some kind of a hardware component. It is speculated that Google will provide the working of the hardware, whereas Lenovo will be manufacturing it. It is also rumored that Lenovo will announce explicitly that they will be manufacturing the Project Tango devices.

This project was launched back in 2014. Project Tango combines the 3D motion tracking with depth sensing. This allows the device determine its own location and also map what surrounds it. The original purpose of this project was to create indoor maps in 3D.

It mainly includes the use of cameras and sensors which are installed on the phone. This new concept will allow a smart device to determine its own location in pure 3D. The cameras will also allow the users to map the rooms and areas in 3D.

All users will need to do is just walk around while using the camera of their Project Tango device. So in a nutshell, this new project is all about promoting the concept and advantages of the 3D Touch technology.  This concept is expected to lead to better indoor maps. It is also expected to prove very helpful for architects and the interior designers.
