Tennis News: Alison Riske Beats Annika Beck, Advances to the Second Round of the Shenzhen Open

2014 Tianjin Open winner Alison Riske eliminated German professional tennis player Annika Beck to advance to the second round of the Shenzhen Open on Monday in three sets 6-7 (3), 6-3, 6-2.
According to the International Tennis Federation, Riske, who is 25 years old, currently ranks as the 97th in the world in the singles and is placed at 291st in doubles. In 2014, she ranked No. 45 in the singles and No. 80 in doubles in the year-end WTA ranking. She reached her career high singles ranking of world No. 40 on June 9, 2014.

Riske, who is American, has won one WTA title, six singles and one doubles title on the ITF tour. She reached the third round of the 2014 Australian Open. In 2013 and 2014 at Wimbledon, she managed to reach the third round and was able to reach the fourth round of the 2014 US Open.
On October 12, 2014 Riske won the Tianjin Open by defeating the 17-year-old Swiss Belinda Bencic 6-3, 6-4.
The American tennis player earned a scholarship in Vanderbilt Univesity and after gaining good results, she decided to play on WTA.
The unseeded American will next face World's No. 93 Hsieh Su-Wei of Taiwan. Hsieh defeated the No. 118 Chinese Ying-Ying Duan 6-4, 7-5 in his last game.
WTA No. 31 Irina-Camelia Begu of Romania was among three seeded players to advance. The third-seeded player of the tournament Begu beat Lara Arruabarrena of Spain, who is currently ranking No. 86 in the world, in two sets 6-3, 6-2.
The fourth-seeded player WTA No. 39 Monica Niculescu of Romania defeated the No.113 Latvian Anastasija Sevastova in three sets 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 and seventh-seeded player No. 52 Zarina Diyas of Kazakhstan beats the No. 140 Zhang Kai-Lin of China 6-4, 7-6 (3).
Hungarian Timea Babos (No. 70), German Anna-Lena Friedsam (No. 95) and Katerina Siniakova (No. 102) of the Czech Republic also advanced.
