Basketball News: Former NBA Player Andray Blatche Bags Player of the Week Award in the CBA

Former NBA player and veteran forward Andray Blatche has been named Asia-basket.com Player of the Week for his outstanding game performance for the Xinjiang Flying Tigers in round 25 of the CBA.
Blatche, who used to play for the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA from 2012 to 2014, posted a very impressive triple double performance of 36 points, grabbing 11 rebounds and dishing out 10 assists in the Flying Tigers game against Foshan Long-Lions, leading his team to a 132-123 victory.

With the victory, Xinjiang FT has been able to strengthen its place in the top spot of the Chinese league with the team record of 22 big wins with just 3 loses. According to Asia-basket, the 29-year old veteran forward had a spectacular performance in their last game shooting 60.0 percent from the 2-point range.
Blatche is in his second season with the Flying Tigers. He averages 23.5 points and 9.9 rebounds per game in the ongoing 2015-16 season.
Blatche is the 2005 NBA draft 49th overall pick selected by the Washington Wizards. He played for the ballclub from 2005 to 2012 before being waived by the team. He later on signed and joined with the Brooklyn Nets before establishing a career in the CBA.
According to the NBA's official website, in the league's 2013-2014, the former Nets player averages 10.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. With a 47.6 field goal percentage and shooting 74.2 percent from the free throw line.
Blatche became a very vital part of the Gilas Pilipinas, the Philippine men's national basketball squad as a naturalized player for the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup held in Spain. He helped the Philippines to their first World Cup win in four decades, defeating Senegal 81-79 in an overtime game.
He also guided Gilas in their runner-up finish in the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship staged in China with the host country winning the championship crown and qualifies for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
