Former NBA journeyman Jordan Crawford scored a remarkable 72 points for the Tianjin Ronggang Gold Lions in their game against the Sichuan Blue Whales in the Chinese Basketball Association league on Friday. However, the spectacular scoring performance of the shooting guard was not enough to steer Tianjin to a win over the league power house Sichuan Blue Whales as Crawford's team lost 113-104.

Crawford, who played four years in the NBA, shot 25-for-52 from the field, connecting four treys in his 12 attempts from beyond the arc area. He made 18 shots out of 20 attempts from the foul line and posted 16 rebounds.
Five Sichuan players finished the game with double figures and kept their team on the top of the team standings, sharing the spot with Xinjiang Flying Tigers with a 22-5 record apiece.
With the loss, Tianjin fell to the 19th place in the league's team standing with a record of 5 wins and 23 loses. Tianjin has struggled this whole season despite having a prolific scorer like Crawford in their line-up and would miss the playoffs.
In the other matches, defending champions Beijing Ducks suffered a 108-96 loss to their old rivals Liaoning Flying Leopards. Liaoning controlled the game and had the lead all the time and was able to stretch the gap by 30 big points in the third quarter of the match, according to Xinhua.
Former NBA All-star Stephon Marbury, who is coming back from a one-game suspension, had 38 points, seven steals and six assists for Beijing Ducks. Chinese shooting guard Guo Ailun had a season-high of 32 points, 10 assists, 6 rebounds and four steals for the Flying Leopards.
Xinjiang Flying Tigers defeated Qingdao Eagles 109-100 and maintained their hold on the top. Shenzhen yielded to Guangsha 104-90, Shanxi tamed Bayi 95-67, Guangdong crushed Beikong 129-111, Shanghai demolished Fujian 99-85, Shandong whipped Tongxi 98-82 and Foshan Long-Lions bowed to Jiangsu Dragons 116-109.
