Basketball News: Former UC Santa Barbara Center Alan Williams Claims Player of the Week Award in CBA League

Former University of California, Santa Barbara standout player Alan Williams has been named Asia-basket.com Player of the Week for an outstanding game performance for the Qingdao Eagles in round 27 of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league.
Williams, who played for the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos of NCAA Division I, put on a spectacular performance in the last round for the Qingdao team. Although, they bowed to the league's defending champions Beijing Ducks with a 127-108 loss, the 22-year-old American had a double-double production of 41 points and 20 big rebounds.

His team Qingdao currently shares an 11 wins, 16 loszes record with the Fujian Sturgeons, Jiangsu Dragons and Shanxi Brave Dragons in the league.
According to Asia-basket, the former Gauchos center turned out to be the Eagle's top player in his first season with the ballclub with his impressive league stats. Williams leads the CBA in the rebound department grabbing 15.4 rebounds per ballgame.
He belongs to the league's top shot blocker averaging a remarkable 1.6 blocks per outing. He is shooting 51.3 percent from the field.
According to Real GM, in Las Vegas summer league Williams had a remarkable game performance with the Houston Rockets, averaging 20.5 points and 11.8 rebounds and registered 50 percent field goal shooting in four games. He also played for the Charlotte Hornets in the Orlando summer league.
Williams listed as 6-foot-8, played college basketball for four seasons at UCSB. In his final three years with the collegiate team he average a double-double production of 17.3 points and 11.9 rebounds per game.
In 2014, he was named Big West Conference Player of the Year. Williams was the second all-time leader in Big West in rebounds and blocked shots. He was a First-team All-Big West member in his sophomore, junior and senior season. He was undrafted in the 2015 NBA Draft and he signed his first professional contract with the Qingdao Eagles of the CBA league.
