Louis Koo's charitable giving has remained unnoticed by a majority of the public, but that has not deterred the actor from building more and more schools in rural areas across China. For the past eight years, the Hong Kong superstar has helped build about 85 public schools - all without any media fanfare.

Louis shows disinterest in talking about his charity work. But he continues to work for the benefit of public school students, who greatly benefit from his generosity. The media first learned about his philanthropy in 2012, but the actor keeps mum about his humanitarian activities despite repeated efforts from the press to get him to discuss the projects.

Louis started building schools in 2008, following the earthquake that hit Sichuan, claiming the lives of over 69,000 people and leaving almost 5 million dead. In 2009, he founded a charitable foundation and worked towards rebuilding schools in China's rural areas with the help of volunteers. Louis is said to spend his free time overseeing schools' constructions. It was reported that he even interacts with the students.
The 45-year-old actor's silent way of giving continues to inspire fans and colleagues. His generosity and warm heart is definitely the opposite of the image he projects on screen.
Louis Koo started out as a TV actor, winning TVB's Best Actor award in 1999 and 2001. He eventually focused on promoting his movie career becoming one of the biggest and most bankable actors in Hong Kong. He has landed lucrative deals as spokesman of several high-profile brands including Pepsi, Osim, Tag Heuer, Lotte, Zero Eyewear, Lay's, and Samsung Galaxy.
