The causes of this eye disorder include high amount of caffeine intake, increased stress, smoking and lack of sleep. If the disease is not treated immediately, it can lead to permanent blindness.
Leung, who is currently recuperating from the operation, stated through a phone interview that prior to his diagnosis, he was guilty of drinking excessive caffeine due to long hours at work. The actor also admitted that the nature of his work as an actor makes him at risk of experiencing stress.
The 36-year-old actor described the surgical procedure in full detail. Doctors reportedly used an advanced laser technology to repair the blood vessels in his eyes. The doctors explained to Leung that this procedure will prevent any undesired effects on his vision.
Leung's family, co-workers and friends visited him during his hospital stay. The TVB star has reportedly been directed to wear sunglasses to protect his eyes after the surgery. He has since been discharged from the hospital.
The actor advised his fans to take good care of their health especially their eyes. The eyes are frequently the most overlooked part of the body and the actor emphasized how gadgets with bright screen contribute to deteriorating eye health.
