German tennis rising star Anna-Lena Friedsam defeated world No. 102 Wang Qiang of China to advance to the third round of the 2016 Australian Open tennis tournament on Wednesday.

However, the 24-year-old failed to duplicate the amazing game performance as she yielded to Friedsam, who currently ranks as world No. 82, in the second round 6-3, 6-4 on the third day of the prestigious tennis Grand Slam event.
In the post-match interview, Wang told reporters that her victory against Stephens could form the basis of a ground-breaking year on tour, despite the round two lose.
"Yes, I think so," Wang said.
"First match I beat big seed. For me this is very helpful for the rest of the season."
According to Shanghai Daily, Wang said a top 50 finish in the year-end rankings wasn't out of the question.
