Chinese Film to Compete in Berlinale 2016

The Chinese film 'Crosscurrent' will be representing China in the 66th Berlinale International Film Festival as part of the festival's lineup for the series competition.

Crosscurrent will make its World premiere in Berlin, Germany during the Berlinale season this coming February and the films director Yang Chao is expected to be in attendance.

The 2016 Berlinale International Film Festival will include 19 world premieres with more than 20 countries competing from across the globe. This year's festival lineup has 18 out of the 23 films competing in the program. The films include Germany's Anna Berrached with her film 24 weeks, Alone in Berlin by Swiss director Vincent Perez, Filipino Independent director Lav Diaz will also be presenting with his latest directorial film A Lullaby to the Sorrowful Mystery.

Other countries competing in the festival include The Netherlands, Switzerland, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, The United Kingdom, Iran, Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, Denmark, France and Tunasia.

The films will be competing for both the Silver and Golden bears. The awards will be handed out on the last day of the Berlinale at a ceremony that will be held in the Berlinale Palast on February 20th, 2016.

The opening premiere for the 66th Berlinale is Hail Ceasar, a Hollywood film starring Hollywood heavyweights George Clooney, Ralp Fiennes and Scarlett Johanssen.

The film festival will have Hollywood Superstar Meryl Streep as the jury president of the seven-member panel of judges. The judges will decide who will take home the Silver and Golden bear.
