Actress Yao Chen Honored at 2016 Crystal Awards in Davos

Chinese actress Yao Chen was honored at the 2016 Crystal Awards in Davos, Switzerland on Wednesday.
Yao Chen received a Crystal Award due to her work with the United Nations Refugee Agency in raising awareness about the refugee crisis that the world is currently facing.
Yao Chen, who happens to have more than 78 million followers on social media platform Weibo, was recently hailed as the "Queen of Weibo." Aside from working with the UN and being a social media queen, Chen has also used her influence to inform the public about environmental pollution and food safety.

During her acceptance speech, the 36-year-old actress said "Everyone who is here tonight are the people who have the most positive energy of them all. Every single one of you could be compared to a beam of light, thank you."
Chen was born in Shishi City, Fujian, China on October 5,1979 and started her entertainment career in 2005 when she played the daughter of a powerful martial artist on the hit TV show My Own Swordsman. In 2014, she was listed by Forbes Magazine as the 83rd Most Powerful Woman after she protested the government enforced media censorship in China.
The Crystal Award recipients are chosen by The World Economic Forum and winners included Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who was recognized for his leadership and his work in tackling the ongoing climate crisis. Artist Olafur Eliasson and former Black Eyed Pea's band member turned music producer Will. I. Am were also awarded.
