The winning streak continues and Chinese qualifier Shuai Zhang is up once again with another stunning upset victory. Zhang won world No. 51 Varvara Lepchenco of the United States 6-1, 6-3 in the third round of the 2016 Australian Open on Saturday.
Zhang, who had appeared in 14 Grand Slam contests before this year, failed to register even a single victory in those previous tennis events that she competed in. However, on her 15th appearance in a major tournament, the story changed.

Zhang suffered four losses at the Australian Open, five at the French Open, and two at Wimbledon and three at the U.S. Open.
The 27-year-old Chinese tennis player, who is ranked No. 133 in the world, is on her third victory in this competition and her third win at a Grand Slam tourney. Zhang sensationally upset the current world No. 2 Simona Halep of Romania in the first round of the prestigious tennis tournament and backed up the victory with another win over Alize Cornet of France who is ranked a hundred times higher than her.
"I want to show the best of Zhang Shuai," she said. "I think I did a great job today."
Zhang, who was thinking of retiring last season, battled her way to earn a spot in the Grand Slam tourney's main draw. She is the only Chinese female player to reach the fourth round of the Melbourne-based tennis tournament.
Her fellow countrywomen Wang Qiang and Zheng Saisai have already bowed out of the competition failing to win in the second round to German Anna-Lena Friedsam and Johanna Konta of the Great Britain respectively.
Zhang started tennis at the early age of six. She reached her career high singles ranking of world No. 30 on July 7, 2014. She plays right handed (double handed backhand) and likes to play in hard surface.
Zhang will play American Madison Keys on Monday.
