ESPN indicated that according to his agent, Ahmed Bullut, the 29-year-old Turkey international "is not set for a €100 million transfer to Chinese club Beijing Guoan this month".
The report also said that Turan does not want to leave Spain even if the deal comes with a €20 million per year salary for five years, which would have made him one of the highest-paid footballers in the world today if he had accepted it.
There are no specific reasons reported why Turan had turned down the massive offer, except that he allegedly was not "thinking" about leaving Barça anytime soon, as per Caught Offside.
"It's not true that Arda has this offer," the agent said. "Arda is not thinking of leaving, now or in the summer."
Turan was signed by the Catalonia residents in July of last year from Atletico Madrid for €34 million, plus €7 million in add-ons, but had only debuted for the club this January when Barça's transfer ban was lifted.
The Fatih, Turkey native had suited up for four seasons with Los Colchoneros, playing in a total of 178 games and scoring 22 times in the said time period.
He has not scored yet for Barça this year after appearing in four domestic and four Cup games for Luis Enrique's side since Jan. 6 in the team's 4-1 victory over RCD Espanyol in the first leg of round of 16 competitions in the Copa del Rey.
Turan began his senior career with Turkish Süper Lig club Galatasaray SK in 2004 and has been with the club prior to his Atletico Madrid signing in August of 2011. He was also a product of the Galatasaray youth program.
Meanwhile, Beijing Guoan has already signed Brazilians Ralf, Kléber, Renato Augusto, and Luiz Adriano, as well as Turan's countryman, striker Burak Yılmaz, during this winter window before they targeted him.
