Miss Hong Kong 2014 contestant #11 Sofiee Ng was awarded the Tourism Ambassador Award and has been presented with the honor by last year's winner, Grace Chan.

After the 16 contestant for the pageant were presented to the public, Sofiee Ng immediately became one of the favorites and was thusly selected as the representative of the tourism board in Hong Kong.

However, despite being the crowd's favorite, it had its downsides, particularly for Sofiee Ng who was involved in some rumors. Her personal life has also been affected due to media exposure. According to some people who worked with the contestant, she was able to join the pageant because her boyfriend was director Nick Cheuk.

In response to the rumors, Sofiee Ng stated that it was a fact that Nick was her boyfriend for a year now and that he was the one who nominated her. The contestant has revealed that she and Nick Cheuk were classmates in the university and that he has been supportive of her decision to join Miss Hong Kong 2014.

There had also been rumors that she had undergone plastic surgery, a matter that she had firmly refuted. She even encouraged people to take a look at her old photos to prove her point.

Sofiee Ng said that the cause of misunderstanding must have been because she had weighed 120 pounds in the past and has since dieted which may have made a difference in her look, now that she is only 98 pounds.

On the other hand, former beauty queen Grace Chan, who has also received the award in the previous year's pageant, was also asked if she had any favorites among the 2014 candidates. Grace Chan stated that she was impressed with Sofiee Ng's performance so far, praising the aspiring beauty queen for her great personality.

Additionally, Grace Chan named contestant #15, Veronica Shiu and contestant #8, Jamie Lee as her personal favorites, saying that the former was also from Vancouver like herself and that she was a genuinely sincere person.

The Miss Hong Kong 2014 pageant semi-finals will be held on August 24.
