After installing a recently released patch, Rocket League gamers, who have deleted the Wasteland level, have found themselves locked out of the game. Rocket League developer Psyonix has explained that the update aims to ban players who intentionally alter the game's file system in order to earn unfair gameplay advantage.

The inclusion of the Wasteland level on Rocket League drew some negative reactions from gamers. First, the level does not look like, or feel like, a standard Rocket League map.
Some gamers pointed out that the inclusion of the non-standard Wasteland level is like playing a football match in a basketball court. Gamers complained that the level itself changes that game's gameplay and overall dynamics.
Some gamers, who were bothered by the Wasteland map, went as far as tinkering with the game's file system and deleted the map in order to avoid it. However, for Psyonix, this is a violation of the game's rules.
With Rocket League patch 1.12, Psyonix stated that any gamer who fiddles with the game's files will receive an automatic time-limited matchmaking ban. Despite several bug fixes included in the latest patch, some gamers continue to vent their frustrations on social media platforms demanding the removal of the Wasteland level.
Gamers, who have deleted the Wasteland files and are not able to retrieve it, can simply use Steam's verify game cache feature to restore the lost files.
Also included in the Rocket League patch 1.12 are a handful of bug fixes. The Skill Rating calculation was fixed and now accurately shows the player's MMR. The patch also fixed an issue that causes the game to show the Ranked Reconnect pop-up even when in the middle of a game.
The latest patch also fixed the incorrect display of player names in a party scoreboard. It also includes a fix for the Max FPS slider which causes some bugs on the game's frame rate.
