US retailers like Best Buy and Target have slashed off $100 on the retail price of the Apple Watch. This should cut the retail price of the smartwatch to as low as $249 for the 38mm sports model.

Several market analysts claim that such a massive price drop could mean that a new model is on its way. However, there are some analysts claiming that this is highly unlikely.

The Apple Watch was launched in April 2015. But the smartwatch have seen a gradual decline in sales over the past few months.

Apple has a major event scheduled for March 15 and many expects the tech giant to unveil a new iPhone model. Some experts also expect Apple to introduce the Apple Watch 2 at the event.

The discount for the Apple Watch is currently available in selected retailers, but not in the official Apple store in the US. It is worth noting that Apple is not interested in offering discounts through its official store but instead relies on third-party retailers for these discounts.

Some market analysts claim that by maintaining the original price tag on its official store, Apple keeps the same premium perception around its products. Moreover, the discount offered by retailers like Best Buy and Target is only applicable to the Sports edition of the smartwatch. The original Apple Watch remains at the same price.
