USA Today reported that the "Los Angeles Clippers have moved guard Lance Stephenson to the Memphis Grizzlies for Jeff Green" and comes with it is a "lottery protected pick" three years from now.

Stephenson was acquired by the Clippers in June of last year via a trade that sent him from the then Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for Spencer Hawes and Matt Barnes, who ironically is now playing with the Grizzlies.

The former Cincinnati standout was a flop in LA this season, averaging 4.7 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in only 15.8 minutes a night in 43 games so far with the Clips.

Stephenson is a known hard-nosed defender and a decent offensive player, having his best season with the Indiana Pacers in 2013-2014 when he averaged 13.8 points, 7.2 boards, and 4.6 dimes in 78 games played as a starter.

Yahoo Sports noted that the Clippers' main goal before this year's trade deadline is to just unload Stephenson and the team pulled it off right at the buzzer on Thursday, even though it cost them one future first-rounder in the process.

Green averaged 12.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game in 53 games with the Grizzlies this season. He could be the Clips' temporary filler for the injured Blake Griffin at the no. 4 spot and would also be a reliable substitute to the high-flying All-Star once he returns to the lineup.

At the moment, Los Angeles is settling for Luc Richard Mbah a Moute as their starting power forward and Green would be an upgrade over the Cameroonian forward.

Meanwhile, it would be interesting to find out how Stephenson will gel with his new teammates given that the Memphis locker room already has notorious players in the person of Barnes, Tony Allen, Zach Randolph, and, just recently from Miami, Chris Andersen.
