(Photo : YouTube) It is unclear when Oppo will release its upcoming R9 and R9 Plus smartphones, but there are rumors that it could be as soon as this month.
Chinese smartphone maker Oppo has announced that its upcoming smartphones called the R9 and R9 Plus have received the certification of China's telecommunication equipment certification authority, TENAA.
The Oppo R9 features a metallic build and a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display screen. The device is powered by 1.95 GHz octa-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM. It has a built-in 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded via a microSD card.

Oppo R9 also features 4G capabilities, dual-SIM functionality, and is powered by a 2,850 mAh battery. In terms of the camera, the device sports two 16-megapixel shooters on the front and the back. It has LED flash alongside the rear camera. The smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system. The device measures a dimension of 151.8 x 74.3 x 6.5 mm and weighs 145g.
Unfortunately, the processor was not mentioned in TENAA's listing. However, it is clear that it is not the Snapdragon 820, since that features a quad-core CPU - not octa-core.
The R9 Plus smartphone also features a fully metallic body and comes with a 6-inch 1080p AMOLED display screen. The handset has the same 16-megapixel cameras as its smaller sibling. The device is powered by a 1.8 GHz octa-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM and a 64GB of expandable storage. It is fueled with a 4,120 mAh capacity battery and supports dual-SIM, and 4G LTE connectivity. The smartphone is likely to be running on Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system. Its dimensions are 163 x 80.8 x 7.4 mm and it weighs 185g.
Oppo R9 and R9 Plus certainly look like solid mid-range smartphones. However, there is no word on when these smartphones will be available on the market. However, there are speculations that they will hit the market on March 17.
