CBA Recap: Liaoning Flying Leopards Beat Guangdong Southern Tigers to Set Finals Showdown With Sichuan Blue Whales

(Photo : gettyimages.com) Two-time CBA MVP American Lester Hudson dominated as Liaoning swept aside the Southern Tigers to head to the league’s finals against Sichuan Blue Whales.

The Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league's top team Liaoning Flying Leopards prevailed in game number four in their semifinal series against the Guangdong Southern Tigers with a 105-96 victory on Friday to take the second ticket to the finals.

Liaoning's Two-time CBA MVP American Lester Hudson continued to dominate as he finished the game with 30 points, along with 6 rebounds and 7 assists. The Flying Leopards head to the league's finals and will face the Sichuan Blue Whales, who swept aside the Xinjiang Flying Tigers to get there.

Liaoning's forward He Tianju scored 26 points and grabbed 2 rebounds, while Chinese star Guo Ailun added 20 points and 6 assists and Li Xiaoxu chipped in 10 points and 7 boards.

Former Boston Celtic player Shavlik Randolph had another double-double game production of 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winners.

Guangdong was leading with a slim 2 points at the end of the first half with the score at 50-48. In the third quarter, Liaoning fired a 30-24 run and ended the period overtaking the lead with 78-74 going in to the final twelve minutes of the match.

In the fourth quarter, Liaoning was able to consolidate the lead and limit the Southern Tigers to just 22 points, while they scored a better 27 points to seal the victory.

The Flying Leopards made 18 for 23 free shots from the foul line for a 78.3 percent shooting as the Tigers committed 25 personal fouls. Liaoning had a well organized offense moving the ball well and dishing out a team-combined 22 assists during the game.

Recently awarded CBA domestic MVP Jianlian Yi led Guangdong with 27 points and 6 rebounds, while Nigerian-American Ike Diogu scored 21 points and 12 boards.

American reinforcement Justin Carter finished the match with just 15 points with 6 boards, while forward Zhou Peng scored 16 points for the Southern Tigers.
