"Be aware, the Ubuntu release that is currently available for the OnePlus One remains a work in progress and more features are expected to be added to the build in the future," OnePlue One said.

The Chinese company is calling more developers to help fix and solve some major difficulties the team has encountered when working on OnePlus X with Ubuntu.

"Work on a full OnePlus X release is in progress. Calling all developers! The community has encountered a number of difficulties in the development process," OnePlus added.

Users, who are interested in the latest software from OnePlus, can flash the Ubuntu OS ROM on their respective OnePlus One smartphones from a dedicated website.

Meanwhile, Canonical has been sharing BQ and Meizu's advertisement to show off its own Ubuntu based operating devices. Some of the Android devices that now have an Ubuntu OS version include the Meizu MX4 and Meizu Pro 5.

Take note  that flashing the ROM of your OnePlus smartphone with the OS would keep all the basic functions of the device intact, however, to stay on the safer side, it is important to backup your data beforehand.
