Attack on Titan season 2 is expected to be released sometime this year. However, recent reports indicate otherwise with speculations stating that there will be another delay. There is a possibility that it will not be aired this year.
Attack on Titan season 2 will possibly not air any time soon allegedly because the production crew behind the anime series is lacking material to work on.
Before the anime adaptation could be produced, the production team needs at least four arcs, according to sources. However, recent reports claim that the chapters of the comic series, which the second season will be based on, is only halfway done with two more arcs still to be finished.
Furthermore, the production crew stated that they wanted to make sure that the anime adaptation will remain faithful to the plot of the original series, thus the delay. The team behind the anime reportedly stated that they have no intention of using filler materials.
There are some rumors that the delay may well be for the better as speculations stated that the second season of Attack on Titan will be the finale of the comic book series.
Rumors indicate that that the current arc is approaching its conclusion. Despite that, no confirmation has been made on whether the manga series is coming to an end, or if the current arc is the final one.
