NBA News: Charlotte Hornets’ Kemba Walker, Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry Bag NBA Players of the Week Honors

(Photo : gettyimages.com) Stephen Curry and Kemba walker have been named Western and Eastern Conference NBA Players of the Week.

Kemba Walker of the Charlotte Hornets and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors have been named NBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played between March 7th and 13th.

Walker, who was the 2011 NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player, helped the Hornets to a 4-0 week averaging 27.8 points to finish second in the Eastern Conference.

In all four matches, the Charlotte's 2011 9th overall pick recorded two games with at least 30 points and had six or more assists during the week. The former University of Connecticut Huskies connected 16-of-31 from beyond the arc region for a 51.6 percent shooting accuracy.

Walker scored 26 points had six assists and grabbed five rebounds in their 125-109 victory against the Houston Rockets as the Hornets registered their seventh consecutive win on March 12.

Charlotte currently sit on the sixth spot of the tight Eastern Conference with 37 wins and 29 losses.

While Curry, the reigning MVP of the league, led the defending champions to a 4-0 week averaging 30.5 points end third in the Western Conference, 5.8 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 2.25 steals.

The NBA regular season leader in points per game connected 24-of-52 for a 46.2 percent shooting accuracy from the three-point territory. Curry had two double-doubles, highlighted by his 41 points and 13 rebounds game performance during the Warriors' 119-113 win over the Orlando Magic on March 7.

The Golden State currently sit at the top of the league's team standings with 60-6, reaching several statistical milestone this season.

Other top performing players who were nominated for the weekly honor are Atlanta Hawks' Paul Millsap, Cleveland Cavaliers' Kyrie Irving and LeBron James, Denver Nuggets' Emmanuel Mudiay, Milwaukee Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo, Phoenix Suns' Devin Booker, San Antonio Spurs' LaMarcus Aldridge and Toronto Raptors' DeMar DeRozan.
