Former Guangzhou Evergrande striker Elkeson de Oliveira Cardoso scored a double to lead his current team, last season's Chinese Super League runners-up Shanghai SIPG, to a 2-1 win over last year's J1 League runners-up Gamba Osaka at the Shanghai Stadium in Shanghai on Tuesday as the third round of the 2016 AFC Champions League Group G competitions concluded.

The 26-year-old Brazilian managed to open the scoring four minutes before the halftime break of the match for head coach Sven-Göran Eriksson's side, netting a close range shot off a header assist of Ghanaian teammate Asamoah Gyan from a free kick by Argentine midfielder Dario Conca, as reported by Shanghai Daily.
Osaka's own Brazilian striker import, Anderson Patric Aguiar Oliveira or simply Patric, was able to equalize the game right at the hour mark in the second half, receiving an assist from Japanese striker Takashi Usami, via Soccerway, to give his team a chance of securing their first win in the said tournament's group stage.
But Elkeson was not finished yet, quickly responding with his second goal of the match just two minutes later, which proved to be the winning goal for the Red Eagles.
It was a bounce back game for Eriksson and SIPG after their disappointing 1-1 derby with Shanghai Shenhua back home in the China domestic top flight last Friday, where the 68-year-old manager fumed with anger about his boys' lack of effort and poor overall performance against their neighborhood rivals.
"We played very well and the team held a good spirit," said Eriksson, praising his players this time around. "They defended well and kept positions fantastically."
It was the second win in three ACL group stage outings for SIPG, which placed them so far on top of Group G with six points, a point above second-running Melbourne Victory, who defeated them at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium during their group stage opener.
