Microsoft is rumored to be developing a Surface Pro 4 upgrade and it is expected to unveil the new tablet along with the Surface Book 2 this year.

According to reports, the Surface Pro 5 will feature an Intel Skylake processor and run the new Windows 10 Redstone 2 OS. It is also speculated to have an enhanced battery performance with the 2-in-1 detachable allegedly delivering seven hours of battery life.

The upcoming Microsoft tablet is rumored to come with an improved rechargeable Surface Pen stylus which will have a charging port, and a notification light. The Surface Pro 5 could come with a 13.3-inch display, 4K resolution, and a USB-Type C connector. Since the Surface Pro 4 was unveiled in October of last year, the Surface Pro 5 is expected to be revealed this October 2016 as well. The Surface Pro 5 base model is speculated to cost $899. 

Incidentally, Microsoft has also recently cut the Core i5 Surface Pro 4 price by $100 just when rumors say the company is now working on the upcoming Surface Pro 5.

Microsoft stores currently offer a $100 discount for the Intel Core i5 Surface Pro 4 variant until March 26. The Surface Pro 4 Core i5 model with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of SSD storage now costs only $899 from its original price of $999.

Additionally, the Surface Pro 4 Core i5 with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of SSD drive costs only $1199 from its original price of $1299. This price discount is rumored to be Microsoft's effort to clear old stocks and make way for the upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro 5.
