Tesla is set to unveil its much-anticipated mass-market vehicle Model 3, which is considered to be the least impressive Tesla from a pure engineering standpoint, on March 31.
Model 3 will deliver 200 miles of range on a single battery charge, cost around $35,000 in base form before tax credits and incentives, possess some of that patented Tesla performance, and provide the basic structure for additional vehicles, with a small sedan and a compact SUV to be precised.

Elon Musk and the team referred to the Model 3 as a sedan about 20 percent smaller than the Model S or about the size of a BMW 3-Series or Audi A4. The Model 3 is expected to contain less aluminum and more steel than its predecessors. Unlike Model S and X, they are primarily made of aluminium that makes them strong and light but also go through from malleability and repair cost is expensive.
The new model’s performance and price will align with the battery pack. With Tesla’s current battery development, it is expected that new battery will be made up of much larger cells, probably about 20 mm x 70 mm compared to Tesla’s current 18 mm x 65 mm. Customers can expect a huge improvement in the battery packs and its partner Panasonic will use a silicon graphene anode to replace the current cell’s graphite anode.
Elon Musk stated previously that the Model 3 will be like any other car but the design might be more conservative compared to the past models. The Model 3’s badge will see the “3” stylized as three equal length horizontal lines. Consumers can expect the full details on March 31.
The launch of Model 3 will be streamed live on Tesla’s website for few selected group or people and an individual. Interested buyers can start putting their reservation on March 31 as well and they need to make a $1000 deposit to secure place on the waiting list. The delivery of Model 3 is not yet scheduled to begin until late 2017.
