Sprint has announced its offering of Amazon Prime subscription as an add-on to their monthly mobile phone plan.

The American telecommunications company’s new deal will include all the regular benefits of Prime, including free two-day shipping, streaming video, access to Prime Music, unlimited photo storage and the Kindle e-book lending library. However, there is a catch. Those who are going to get the deal need to pay $11 monthly, converting it to $132 in a year. It is worth noting that Amazon Prime subscription can be purchased for only $99 annually.

Sprint said that users will get more flexibility and convenience with the Amazon Prime subscription add-on compared to its standalone counterpart.

The first benefit that subscribers can get is the chance to access Amazon Prime on a monthly plan instead of committing in a whole year. They can also binge watch Amazon Originals TV series that are not available anywhere else.

“Amazon Prime is another example of the innovative options that Sprint delivers every day to its customers. With this monthly add-on, Sprint customers will have great flexibility and will have the opportunity to easily access Amazon’s full entertainment package on America’s fastest LTE network,” said Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure in a press release.

It appears that Sprint think that subscribers will pay more to avoid a long-term commitment and value the convenience of monthly billing. The deal is most likely directed towards consumers who have grown accustomed to streaming video on their mobile devices.

T-Mobile has also capitalized on the trend with Binge On, allowing their customers to watch videos from Amazon and other streaming services without consuming their monthly data allowance.
