Hugh Hefner's younger brother Keith Hefner lost a battle with cancer and passed away in his home in Beverly Hills at the age of 87.

Keith worked for his brother's Playboy Enterprises and was tasked to recruit and train models for the popular publication. He was regularly seen on the show "Girls Next Door" which followed Hugh's life with his three girlfriends at the time, Kendra Wilkinson, Bridget Marquardt, and Holly Madison. He even continued to appear on Madison and Wilkinson's spin-offs.

However, the reality shows weren't his first venture into the television screen. When he was younger, he tried his hand at acting and was even credited in two episodes of 1969's "Get Smart." He also appeared in "Fever Pitch" and "Evil Town."

The news of his death is really an unhappy time for his brother, Hugh, who will turn 90 years old on April 9. He confirmed his brother's death and took to Twitter to announce the news.

"This morning, my dear brother and best friend passed away. I love you, Keith. Rest in peace," his tweet read.

Aside from Hugh, former Playboy playmate Wilkinson also spoke out and sent her condolences. She tweeted, "Just heard the news about Keith Hefner. He was such an awesome guy. I will miss him. #RIPKeith."

Keith is survived by wife Caya Hefner. The Indonesian Playboy model's Twitter account consists of pictures and Snapchat videos of the two. Her most recent Tweet is a throwback photo of her, husband Keith, and brother-in-law Hugh with the caption, "Love this pic of us. A brother in law & a husband that I genuinely love and care very much! #grateful #tbt."
