Comedy star Melissa McCarthy is MTV Movie Awards' big winner on Sunday night as she brings home the Comedic Genius Award. She is the very first woman to win the said prize following noteworthy talents such as Will Ferrell (2013) and Kevin Hart (2015).

McCarthy celebrated her MTV win with a rock-star style crowd surfing that was further blasted when she seemed to intentionally fall into the arms of several men who carried and passed her through a bed of audience which was happy to bring the actress to the stage.
As she accepted the award presented by Hart and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, McCarthy was greeted by the screaming public in appreciation for her clean comedy roles and gestures.
"I may be the first woman to win Comedic Genius, but I am certainly not the first to deserve it," said McCarthy during her acceptance speech.
She then went on to mention names of women in the same comedy field she is in, such as Diane Keaton, Lily Tomlin, Phyllis Diller, Carol Burnett, Whoopi Goldberg, and her very own mom, Sandra McCarthy.
The 45-year-old comedienne's latest movie, The Boss, also toppled the film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice so the actress seems to be having a good game at the box office. Her other films including The Heat, Spy, and Bridesmaids also did well in the theatres, which primarily paved way to more comedy films afterwards.
McCarthy will soon star in the comedy-thriller film remake Ghostbusters which is expected to hit the theaters in July. She will co-star with Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon, and Kristen Wiig. The movie reached a $154 million budget which is expected to be surpassed by heaps at the box office.
