Recent rumors have emerged that a potential swap involving Chicago Bulls wingman Jimmy Butler and Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal could happen this coming offseason.

Fansided's Ben Mehic reported that the Wizards are looking to split their core twosome of John Wall and Bradley in the summer as the two players are not considered as a "championship duo" that could bring the NBA title to the capital city anytime soon.

The report noted that while Washington has steadily built a young core after "years of brutal basketball" helped the squad "secure lottery picks and ultimately experience some success in the NBA Playoffs", it still was not enough to finally be called a perennial title-contending franchise.

With that, Behic suggested that the Wizards should "look to make changes to their roster by changing their core" and the main suggestion was for Washington to trade for Butler, who is reportedly on the trading block in Chicago.

Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix indicated that there is a possibility of the Bulls testing the trade market with Butler, saying that "there is legitimate interest in Chicago in potentially dealing Butler this summer".

Even if the 2015 NBA Most Improved Player had already established himself as a star in Chicago, speculations abound the Bulls are favoring to retain Derrick Rose more than Butler as the two continues to develop chemistry issues when playing together on the court.

Aside from that, Butler is reportedly not in good terms with head coach Fred Hoiberg as well. Reports went out in December that the two-time All-Star had criticized Hoiberg's coaching style, saying that he "feels the team needs to be coached a lot harder at times".

Teaming up Wall with Butler is a huge upgrade for the Wizards backcourt both in offense and defense. A Wall-Butler combination would arguably become the second-best backcourt in the NBA after the Steph Curry-Klay Thompson mix.

Meanwhile, Beal, who is four years the junior of Butler, will help Chicago in their rebuilding project as he is a young shooter with a lot of upside and potential for the future.
