Many tech analysts agree that virtual reality will be the next big thing in the tech community and companies are already clamoring to get into the market in order to get a piece of the action. The latest to join the foray is Chinese tech company Huawei after it launched its own set of mobile virtual reality headset.

Simply called the Huawei VR, the device is the company's first venture into the world of mobile virtual reality. At a quick look, Huawei's virtual reality headset is almost the same as those devices that are already out in the market, like the Samsung Gear VR.

The Huawei VR was unveiled at the company's launch event for the Huawei P9 and Huawei P9 Plus smartphones. The Huawei virtual reality headset looks almost like a clone of the Gear VR.

Just like the Gear VR, the Huawei VR has a slot on the front side which allow users to insert a smartphone. Users need to strap the headset in order to navigate through a virtual reality environment by using the touchpad on the side of the device.

While some tech analysts have criticized the Huawei VR for being a Gear VR clone, some experts have also  applauded Huawei for throwing its hat into the platform. This will create more competition and in turn force tech companies to create the best product in order to make sure that they stay on top.

Since the Huawei VR is paired with either the Huawei P9 or the Huawei P9 Plus, the highest resolution a user can enjoy should be 1080p. While this is not the cutting edge of virtual reality, Huawei claims that its VR headset is the first to offer 360-degree sound field.

Additional specs include the usual 20ms low latency and a 95-geree field of view. In comparison, the Samsung Gear VR has 96 degrees field of view, while the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift both have 100 degrees field of view.
