Ubisoft to Fix ‘The Division’ Glitch That Wipes out Character Progress

Tom Clancy's 'The Division' is undoubtedly one of the biggest video game titles released this year. The game combines open-world mechanics with the third-person shooter genre. Due to the game's massive scope, it is inevitable that it will face some serious glitches. One of major major problems encountered by gamers involve their characters being completely wiped out, while some have reported losing weeks' worth of progress.

'The Division' developer Ubisoft has announced that it will soon fix the problem. Gamers in the Xbox One console have complained that their character's progress were wiped out due to unexplained reasons. Somehow, the problem only affected Xbox One gamers and no same issue was reported on other platforms.

In a statement, Ubisoft said, "The issue was caused by a malfunctioning server that couldn't synchronise character data correctly and corrupted them instead. The game client was unable to read this corrupted data, and simply assumed that the character didn't exist."

Ubisoft added that one the problem has been identified and they should be able to restore the server to its normal state. The company comforted those affected by the glitch that their character is not completely wiped out and it is working to fix that and restore the corrupted data as soon as possible.

In order to fix the problem, Ubisoft said that it will implement a temporary server downtime. The company added that it will properly inform gamers when the downtime will take place. One everything is fixed, Ubisoft will implement a rollback for those players who lost their progress due to the glitch.

'The Division' was released on March 8. The game was able to sell more copies in its first day that any other previously released Ubisoft video game, including 'Watch Dogs' and 'Assassin's Creed.' Following its release, the game manage to hold the top spot for four consecutive weeks in the GfK Entertainment All Formats video game charts.
