The widely popular first-person shooter video game Counter-Strike is now available on Android, albeit unofficially. Dedicated fans of the game were able to put together an Android port of the classic shooter.

A Reddit user detailed his project of porting Counter-Strike to the Android platform. The project involves moving game files from an existing Steam installation and then installing the Xash3D Android Application Package (APK). For users who are interested in downloading the APK, both the noomp and the omp versions of it are available on GitHub.

Once the APK is downloaded and installed, users need to copy the game files from their Steam account towards their smartphone.

Programmer Alibek Omarov successfully ported Counter-Strike's version 1.6 to the Android platform. Omarov, in the past, has also worked on several classic PC games and ported it on the Android system. One of his most famous accomplishments is when he converted the classic "Half-Life" video game to the mobile platform in 2015.

Counter-Strike for Android is essentially a hacked version of the game, which means it is not officially backed by the game's developer.

Omarov's Counter-Strike for the Android platform also supports peripherals, which means that users can play the game using a keyboard or a mouse if they are able to connect it to their device via a USB adaptorr. However, the game does not have a functional online component, this means that players will have to enjoy the game playing against AI bots rather than live human players, according to The Verge.
