Sixteen years after release on the original Sony PlayStation console, the critically-acclaimed video game Final Fantasy IX has finally arrived on the PC platform. The game is distributed via Valve's digital distribution platform Steam.

The game is only available for digital copy and it is unknown whether the game will be released with a physical disk. The PC version of the game includes Steam achievements as well as game boosters like No Encounter Mode and High Speed. There is also the autosave function, updated character models. The in-game movies were all remastered in high-definition.

The game has a discounted price of $16.79 on Steam. The discount will last until April 20. After that the game will cost $20.

Final Fantasy IX was released in 2000 by Square. Since then, the game was able to sell more than five million copies.

"Final Fantasy IX" follows the story of eight playable characters as their traverse the magical world of Gaia. These characters are Garnet Til Alexandros XVII, Vivi Orunitia, Adelbert Steiner, Freya Crescent, Quina Quen, Eiko Carol, Amarant Coral, Zidane Tribal and Eiko Carol. The game's main antagonist is Kuja, an arms dealer.

Upon its release, "Final Fantasy IX" was met with both critical and commercial success. The game scored 94 percent on review aggregator Metacritic, making it the highest rated "Final Fantasy" game on the website. On GameRankings, "Final Fantasy IX" has a score of 93 percent, making it the second highest rated game of the series, behind "Final Fantasy VI."
