It can be recalled that prior to October release rumors, GoPro Hero 5 is said to be released within the first half of 2016, but that did not materialize as the developers changed their plans. It is said that they are still waiting for the Karma Drone, which is another product from GoPro, to be released first.
Furthermore, previous reports claim that GoPro Hero 5 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset; however, fresh rumors indicate that the much awaited action camera will be equipped with Ambrella H1 processor instead. According to reports, Ambrella H1 processor is far much better than Snapdragon SoCs, in terms of image processing and video compression.
If the usage of Ambrella H1 processor will materialize, GoPro Hero 5 will be able to capture 4K videos at 60fps. Although, some speculates that instead of 4K videos, the GoPro Hero 5 is expected to capture 8K videos at 30 frames per second. In addition, the action camera is also rumored to be able to record 1080p videos at a whooping 240fps, which is a bit exaggerated.
Since these are merely rumors and speculations, fans would just need to wait for GoPro's official announcement about GoPro Hero 5 in the coming months.
