The DEA [Drug Enforcement Administration] will be helping out the local sheriff's department with the investigation of Prince's death after prescription drugs were found in his possession and at his residence at the time of the music legend's death, according to law enforcement officials.
The authorities did not reveal whether or not the drugs played a role in the Purple Rain singer's death but said that the DEA will try and determine the origin of the painkillers and what prescriptions Prince had obtained for the drugs, which is standard procedure for them when it comes to investigating a death.

Prince, 57, was found dead at his Paisley Park residence in Chanhassen, Minnesota on April 21, just a week after his plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Moline, Illinois, where he was rushed to the ER in an ambulance.
According to fire and ambulance records from that night, Prince was unresponsive at the time of the plane's landing and was in such a weak state that he had to be carried off the aircraft by his bodyguard.
The musician was then taken to a nearby hospital, where he received treatment for an overdose of the opioid painkiller Percocet, according to TMZ.
After conducting an autopsy of Prince's body last Friday, the medical examiner found "no obvious signs of trauma," but said that toxicology results are still pending and could take weeks.
Prince reportedly was struggling with a Percocet addiction for years and obtained prescriptions for the medication for a hip-related problem and became addicted to the painkiller shortly after undergoing hip replacement surgery in 2010.
