Middling teams Guangzhou R&F FC (2-3-2, 8 points) and Chongqing Lifan FC (1-1-5, 8 points) are scheduled to take on each other for a 2016 Chinese Super League match at the Yuexiushan Stadium on Saturday, May 7th.

Guangzhou R&F is having mercurial performances early in the season as they are currently at the ninth spot of the league table.

After a four-game winless spell, the Blue Lions finally won a game as they pulled off an impressive 3-2 upset over perennial contenders Shandong Luneng on the road at the Jinan Olympic Sports Center Stadium on April 29th, as reported by China.org.

Guangzhou midfielder Lu Lin scored a brace to lead manager Dragan Stojković's side in the contest.

Lu netted the opening goal of the match at the 26th minute, but Shandong defender Dai Lin quickly answered with a shot on goal two minutes later to equalize the count.

Taishan Dui then took the lead seven minutes after the restart courtesy of a shot by winger Wang Yongpo.

The visitors were not to be denied, though, as they netted the last two goals of the match at the 62nd and 63rd minutes with shots by striker Xiao Zhi and Lu's second goal respectively.

Meanwhile, Chongqing Lifan leveled with capital city squad Beijing Guoan FC, 1-1, at their home field of Chongqing Olympic Sports Center last Saturday for their fifth straight drawn match, as per Soccerway.

The game was goalless for the most part until Beijing midfielder Zhang Xiaobin scored one with nine minutes remaining in the clock. Chongqing answered two minutes later with a goal by defender Liu Yu to salvage the draw and share a point in the league table for both squads.

The predicted result is a close 1-0 decision for Guangzhou R&F.
