Elaine Ng, Jackie Chan's former lover, has been through many challenges with her family life, especially with her troubled relationship with Etta Ng, her teenage daughter.

Since Jackie Chan's refusal to recognize Etta as her own daughter, Elaine has been having a hard time trying to bridge the gap with her.

Elaine positively believes in her solid role as a mother figure even if her daughter Etta is in a rebellious phase. The former actress revealed that she has tried to be a better mother to Etta and hopes for a better communication between them.

Elaine added that she was used to following the traditional method of parenting with her daughter. The traditional method of parenting includes the obligation for the child to listen to whatever the parent says.

However, when Etta entered into her teenage years, she started to rebel.

Following the charges of child abuse shouldered by Elaine last year, the mother-daughter duo has repaired their strained relationship. But there are still times when Elaine and Etta do not meet eye-to-eye.

Elaine has revealed that to improve the line of communication between her and Etta, she often shares stories about herself during her younger years. Elaine says she also does not follow the 'Tiger Mom' approach to parenting and instead encourages Etta to focus more on her interests in baking, computers and even veterinary work.

Elaine also gives her daughter good advice on life, emphasizing that the best things are the simpler things.

"Don't overthink it. When you leave this world, what do you want to leave behind?" said Elaine, explaining that she advised her daughter to prioritize her happiness and live life without any regrets.
