Samsung's heavily anticipated Gear VR is expected to be a smash at IFA 2014 in Berlin.
Gear VR is an untethered virtual reality headset with a removable front plate that conceals and protects the housing for a Galaxy Note 4.
The South Korean electronics maker partnered with Oculus Mobile SDK to create the Gear VR. CTO John Carmack and the Oculus mobile team took 12 months to develop the software to support mobile VR experiences for Gear VR.

Gear VR is dubbed as an add-on for the Note 4. It uses the CPU and GPU of the smartphone to power a Quad HD 5.7-inch Super Amoled screen (1440p).
It offers a 96-degree viewing angle or the equivalent of standing six feet away from a 175-inch screen.
The interior eyepieces can be adjusted to accommodate users wearing eyeglasses.
Samsung will also launch the Gear VR Innovator's Edition for "innovative consumers, specifically VR enthusiasts, developers, mobile experts and professionals, and early technology adopters."
The Oculus device includes a packed in 16 GB MicroSD formatted after 360-degree movie trailers and videos.
Gear VR will also feature Tony Stark's lab in Avengers Tower for promoting The Avengers: Age of Ultron, IMAX video; Pacific Rim Jaeger pilot experience, Cirque du Soleil VR experience, Vevo videos access; DeNA's Protocol Zero and Qualcomm-branded VR experience, called Vuforia.
Additionally, the headset will also display a collection of media apps from Oculus for viewing videos and basic interface features.
Oculus Home is the dashboard that will be the place to access the Oculus Store for downloading and launching VR content.
Gear VR also has Oculus Cinema that acts as a virtual movie theater offering 2D and 3D video playback "in a variety of theater environments."
Lastly, it features Oculus 360 Videos and Oculus 360 Photos for virtual reality takes on their respective media playback focuses.
There haven't been any reports about the exact release date for Gear VR but Samsung said it will arrive in this fall.
