The producers behind 'DC's Legends of Tomorrow' plan to make major cast changes in the upcoming second season. Among the changes, Ciara Renee will no longer be regular as her character Hawkgirl will be departing from the series.
The Season One finale for 'DC's Legends of Tomorrow' saw the beginning of some impending casting changes for the upcoming second season. For one, Ciara Renee will be exiting the series as revealed at the end of the finale "Legendary" after her Hawkgirl was seen flying off into the sunset together with Falk Hentschel's Hawksman after successfully ridding the world of the villainous Vandal Savage, played by Casper Crump.

Season Two will reportedly be seeing less of Hawkman and perhaps none of Hawkgirl. Although Renee was one of the principal characters in the first season, she will no longer be a series regular.
"We went through the team, made a list of all the characters and started to think of stories for them. When we got to Hawkman and Hawkgirl, we had trouble coming up with stories. The bow was tied so tightly and neatly with their story in the finale, that everything we thought of felt very forced. After 4000 years, they were no longer under the specter of Vandal, and we felt they need some time off. Bringing them back to the team as soon as the beginning of Season 2 felt premature," co-creator and executive producer Marc Guggenheim admitted. "The composition of the team is going to change; there will be some new faces on the Waverider... The season finale planted some very significant flags in terms of what the new concept of the show will be in season 2."
The same goes for the case of Wentworth Miller's Captain Cold. Captain Cold was killed off just recently. Caity Lotz, who plays White Canary and Miller's love interest, admitted that she was sad to see the character go.
"It's heartbreaking... I love their love story," Lotz said. She revealed that the relationship between Captain Cold and White Canary was not included in the plot initially, but the two actors toyed with the idea for a while. She also added that although Captain Cold is truly deceased, it does not mean that fans have seen the last of him since the series tends to jump around through time.
Meanwhile, Guggenheim teased that season 2 will make way for a more threatening villain compared to Vandal. "People will be asking, 'Vandal who?' once they get the full picture of what our team is up against. It's going to be way bigger than what you can even imagine, I can guarantee it," he said.
'DC's Legends of Tomorrow' is an action-adventure television series intended as a spin-off to 'Arrow' and 'The Flash' in the same superhero universe. The second season is scheduled to premiere on The CW in October 2016.
