'Rogue One,' a 'Star Wars' spin-off film, may see the return of classic franchise villain Darth Vader, according to an unintentional leak of the accompanying book 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story: The Official Visual Story Guide.'

The classic Sith lord is set to make an appearance in the upcoming 'Star Wars' spinoff film directed by Gareth Edwards. Fans of the popular space opera franchise have been speculating about his return to the big screen since the announcement of 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.'

A preview of the accompanying book 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story: The Official Visual Story Guide' was released online courtesy of the website Edelweiss and was immediately taken down a few moments after.German fan website Jedi-Bibliotek was quick to acquire the much needed information before the preview vanished.

Darth Vader's presence within the preview indicated his much-anticipated appearance in the upcoming spin-off film. He will apparently be fighting off rebel "terrorists" and will be donning his iconic black armour.

There were rumors that Hayden Christensen will return to reprise his villainous character, but new reports suggest that British actor Spencer Wilding will take on the role instead.

Meanwhile, more information on the various characters of 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' have been revealed. Felicity Jones will appear as warrior Jyn Erso, Diego Luna as Rebel Alliance officer Captain Cassian Andor, Jiang Wen as freelance assassin Baze, Riz Ahmed as rebel soldier Bodhi and Donnie Yen as spiritual warrior Chirrut.

Disney has said that the unintentionally leaked information was not completely accurate.

'Rogue One' is the first in a planned anthology of films set in the 'Star Wars' universe. It is directed by Gareth Edwards based on a screenplay prepared by Chris Weitz. It is scheduled to premiere in theaters on December 16, 2016.
