On an official Kickstarter page, Pebble Technology confirmed the arrival of their two smart watches - the Pebble 2 and Time 2. Moreover, the same page announced the introduction of a new and hackable wearable device, the Pebble Core, which runners can use in lieu of their smartphone while running.
The Pebble 2 and Time 2 combine the technology of a smartwatch and a fitness tracker. Both watches are capable of showing smartphone notifications and tweaking scheduled. However, the watches are also equipped with a built-in heart rate monitor. The Pebble 2 goes for $99 while the Time 2 can be purchased at $169.
On the other hand, the Pebble Core is not only capable of tracking GPS data but can also stream music from Spotify. According to Thomas Sarlandie, Pebble's head of Developer Relations, in a recent Reddit AMA, the Pebble Core is completely customizable. It can be integrated through different platforms.
"It is an amazing device for developers and hackers! Like all Pebble product it will be pretty open and you will be able to integrate at different levels: apps written in JS, directly writing APKs for the Android system or even hack the Linux system directly" explained Sarlandie in the Reddit event.
The Pebble Core is currently selling for $69.
The Pebble 2 is expected to ship in September 2016 while the Time 2 would be released in November. The Pebble Core on the other hand would not arrive until the turn of the year. The wearable device would be shipped by January 2017.
