(Photo : Reuters) Microsoft is reportedly working with a European game developer who will create content for the latter's upcoming VR-capable console.
There are reports that tech giant Microsoft is planning to build a new Xbox One console that will be powerful enough to handle the massive hardware specs required by some of the today's high-end virtual reality headsets.
According to Ars Technica, one prominent, yet unnamed, developer has already agreed to work with Microsoft to creating virtual reality contents for the tech giant's upcoming new console. The media outlet did not name the developer but said that it is a major European studio and added that the virtual reality title will be part of an already established video game franchise.

When the news started to spread, discussions on several gaming forums immediately named Ubisoft as the developer that Ars Technica was referring to. First, Ubisoft is based in the European city of Rennes in France. Second, Ubisoft has a long list of successful video game franchise that fans would love to see cross the virtual reality platform, among the best pick out of the bunch is "Assassin's Creed," according to PC Mag.
Ars Technica also reported that the rumored virtual reality game would also be released for the PlayStation 4 and the PC platforms.
Unlike its close rival Sony which has already unveiled its roadmap for the virtual reality platform starting with the PlayStation VR's release in October, Microsoft has remained silent about its own virtual reality plans. Back in 2014, a Microsoft executive said that the company is watching how the virtual reality platform develops before it decides to join the fray.
Regarding the details of Microsoft's upgraded Xbox One console, sources told Polygon that the virtual reality-themed version of the console will be four times more powerful than the current generation model. This is important since the virtual reality platform requires high-end hardware to fully render an immersive VR experience.
