The data - which was also shared by Xiaomi's CEO Lei Jun via Weibo - reveals that the company had achieved 26 percent of the market share in April - followed by Huawei's Honor sub-brand with 15.7 percent, and LeEco in third place with 10.5 percent.
The results also show that Apple achieved 8.2 percent of the market share in China, while Huawei managed to get 8 percent of the slice. Other local and foreign companies that made it to the list include Meizu with 7 percent, 360 with 4.5 percent and finally Samsung with only 3.2 percent. To put the numbers into perspective, this means that one in four smartphones sold in the country last month were made by Xiaomi.
Furthermore, it was recently revealed that Xiaomi's smartphones were among the most popular devices used by Chinese Internet users in 2015. They accounted for 15.56 percent, while Samsung and Apple accounted for 15.78 percent and 16.76 percent respectively, according to a report released by the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) together with the Internet Society of China.
The report adds that the country currently has more than 700 million mobile Internet users since 2015, which is around 56.8 percent of the whole population. Other smartphone brands that were popular last year include Huawei, Vivo, OPPO, Lenovo, Coolpad, HTC and LG.
