Xiaomi's Mi Max Smartphone Attracts Over 8 Million Registrations

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi Inc. recently revealed through its Weibo account that the Mi Max smartphone has attracted over 8 million registrations during the device's first flash sale. The handset, which was announced earlier this week in China, is expected to go on sale later this month on May 17th.

The Xiaomi Mi Max measures 173.1 x 88.3 x 7.5 mm in dimensions and weighs about 203 grams. It features a gigantic 6.44-inch display screen with a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels (Full HD), protected by the Gorilla Glass 4.

The device runs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system out of the box, along with the company's latest MIUI 8.0 user interface. In terms of the camera, the phone has a 16 megapixel unit with dual-LED flash on the back and a 5 megapixel shooter on the front.

Inside, the Mi Max is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650/652 chipset, 3GB/4GB of RAM, 32GB/64GB/128GB of built-in memory storage, and a massive 4,850 mAh battery. The memory can be expanded up to 200GB, while the battery comes with the Quick Charge 3.0 technology that can charge the phone up to 83 percent in just 30 minutes. It is worth mentioning that the 32GB/3GB variant (Qualcomm Snapdragon 650) will be the only one to go on sale this May 17th.

Other specs the Mi Max carries include a fingerprint sensor, dual-SIM functionality, support for Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, Infrared port, and NFC connectivity. As for pricing, the 32GB/3GB (Snapdragon 650) model costs about $230, while the 64GB/3GB (Snapdragon 652) model comes with a price tag of about $260. On the other hand, the third model, which packs 128GB/4GB (Snapdragon 652) will cost around $300.
