Mark Salling, best known for playing Noah "Puck" Puckerman on Glee, has been axed from the mini-series Gods and Secrets after he was indicted on charges of receiving and possessing child pornography last week.

The 33-year-old actor was indicted on two counts of child pornography on Friday following his arrest last December, after which investigators recovered a laptop, hard drive and USB flash drive containing thousands of pictures and videos depicting child pornography from Salling's home, as previously reported.

Gods and Secrets' executive producer Adi Shankar has now issued a statement on Facebook to announce that Salling will no longer be a part of the project.

"Adi Shankar's Gods and Secrets" will be moving forward without Mark Salling," the statement read. "He has been cut from the mini-series, I will personally be paying for the reshoots, and I hope that Mark finds inner peace."

"A percentage of profits from the project will go to a charity for abused children," he continued. "The innocence of our planet's children is something that must be protected at all costs. As entertainers, our role is to be the 'conscience of humanity."

"Hopefully some good will come of all of this and I pray that when the dust has settled, the hyper-connectivity of the information age that has brought to light the transgressions of several public figures, will also force us to look within our society to identify and eliminate the root cause of the rape culture we exist in," Shankar added.

The actor plans to surrender himself to federal authorities on Friday and could be facing a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison if found guilty.
