Fans have gotten a glimpse of the "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" after photos of the stage play's cast of characters were recently released.

The highly-anticipated stage play, which premiers in London on June 30, is based on J.K. Rowling's eight "Harry Potter" novel, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

"Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" takes place 19 years after the events of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."

Harry (played by Jamie Parker) is all grown up and works at the Ministry of Magic.

In contrast to his previous death-defying adventure as the famous wizard, he now lives a seemingly sedentary existence with his wife Ginny (Poppy Miller) and three school-aged children.

According to the play's official synopsis, Harry's son Albus (Sam Clemmett) will play a prominent role in the story, as he is sucked into Harry's colorful past.

"While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted," the synopsis disclosed.

"As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places," it added.

"Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" is a collaborative effort of J.K. Rowling, playwright Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany.

Rowling said that the novel would be available online and in print on July 31.

"Cursed Child" has broken new ground, as it is the first official "Harry Potter" story that has been developed into a full-blown stage production, with previews to begin in six days.

When asked about Parker's transformation in the play, Rowling related to Pottermore website that, "He simply is Harry now. There's a kind of relief in watching him, he gets it so right."

For his part, Parker described his experience during the play's rehearsal sessions as "immeasurably exciting," as he has been given the chance to don the famous glasses and scar.

"They're just iconic," the actor shared. "These are stories that people have lived with for their whole lives, they've grown up with and now they're adults re-joining the tale, picking it up where they left off and I'm one of them."

"Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" grabbed the headlines late last year when it was announced that Hermione Granger would be portrayed by 46-year-old Swaziland-born actress Noma Dumezweni.
